Middlesex Community College Summer Fashion Camp. Eleni teaches courses in fashion at Middlesex Community College in Lowell. One of her favorite courses is Summer Fashion Camp for aspiring fashion designers. For information on this program, click here.
Greater Lowell Technical High School. A charter member of the Advisory Board since1994, Eleni has taught courses, and advised on curriculum and equipment. She co-produced one of the most successful fashion shows at the school.
Fashion Design Classes. Eleni teaches fashion to a wide range of students -- from elementary school aged children all the way through college. She has taught classes at Girls Incorporated Lowell, Greater Lowell Technical High School, Middlesex Community College, Bay State College and Lasell College.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course explores the tools, methods, and principles to introduce young students to the world of fashion. The objective is to learn basic hand sewing, Machine sewing, and Fashion drawing. The focus will be on tools and techniques that allow the students to develop their personal style and express their creativity to the fullest.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this 2 week course the student will be able to:
- Understand the basics in fashion Design according to the age level.
- Students will be encouraged to use conventional and unconventional fashion design methods to let them express their creativity.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS:
All materials and equipment will be provided by MCC
There will be sewing machines in the classroom
Students can bring their sewing machine if they wish
Handouts by Instructor
Students will need to bring:
One old pr. of clean jeans
Fashion magazines
Scraps of fabric, trims, buttons and any notions, are greatly appreciated.
STRATEGIES:
This fun course will be delivered with small lectures, visuals, hands on projects, tending to the learning style of each individual student.
Class Schedule
Week 1:
Introduction
Bracelet story. Make bracelet
Selected Fashion Designer slide show daily
Fashion drawing
Hand stitch sampler: Buttons, lace, beads, fasteners.
Field trip (Museum, fabric store, boutique)
Create a Fashion line (Each student will choose a theme based on observations from the field trip)
Week 2:
Fashion Designer slide show daily
Fashion handouts & lecture
Introduction to sewing machine
Make a Blue Jean "Pocket" Book
Fashion drawing
Day before last class: FASHION SHOW!!!
Complete portfolio binder, diploma ceremony & dance.
Instructor will assist students to create designs with the FRENCH Draping method.
This class is designed for students to learn the basics on Fashion Design, while having fun.
